Cardiology
Cardiology is the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions that are mainly caused by genetic predisposition, stress and poor lifestyle choices. Cardiovascular disorders are the cause of millions of deaths worldwide and can affect anyone, regardless of gender or age.
Some of the major heart conditions include:
- Heart failure
- Heart attack
- Congenital heart defect
- Electrophysiology and heart valve disease
Proper nutrition, yoga, stress-free lifestyle and special health strategies help reduce the risk of heart disease.
Coronary Artery Diseases
Turkey has superior healthcare facilities that can treat heart diseases at affordable prices. Clinics and hospitals are interconnected in a seamless network to provide the best timely diagnosis and treatment. We organize the following services to help resolve cardiovascular ailments:
Angiography (including non-ionic contrast)
With the help of this procedure, the surgeon can provide a detailed look at your heart chambers, veins, arteries, and blood vessels in a non-ionic contrast medium.
Angioplasty (including non-ionic contrast)
This surgery is done to remove blockages caused by plaque in your coronary artery. The cardiac surgeon will increase the inner diameter of the narrowed blood vessels to allow for the smooth passage of blood and nutrients. A nonionic contrast agent is used for proper visualization of the entire procedure. You can choose two types of this procedure:
Balloon angioplasty - the blockage in the heart is removed by the action of an inflated balloon.
Balloon stenting - a balloon stent is placed to help relieve the heart blockage.
Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
This procedure is also known as CABG. The surgeon uses blood vessels in one part of your body and joins them above and below your narrowed artery, bypassing the clogged or narrowed arteries. More than one vein can be used depending on the number and severity of obstructions. The blood vessels chosen are usually the arteries in the chest or arm, or the veins in your legs.
Double Valve Replacement
Those with heart valve disease or congenital valve defects go through this procedure, which involves replacing both the aortic and mitral valves. You will receive general anesthesia during the surgery.
Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty
This procedure is done to widen the narrowed heart valves. A flexible, thin tube with a balloon attached to it is inserted through the arm or groin. Once it reaches the affected valve, the balloon opens and expands the valve.
Pacemaker implant dual chamber (surgical only)
Pacemaker implants have become a common and successful way of regulating irregular heart rhythm. Specialist doctors in Turkey will place a tiny electrical device on your chest. The device has two connected chambers, one of which is connected to the right atrium of the upper chamber of the heart. The other is connected with the lower chamber or ventricle. The electrical pulses of the pacemaker return the heart rhythm to normal.
Pediatric Heart Surgery – Conduit Repair
This heart surgery is done to repair congenital heart defects in children, to place a stent and to cover the pericardium. The surgery, called atrial switch surgery, is done to correct the position of the arteries in the heart. The atrioventricular canal defect is repaired with the help of patches.
Electrophysiology Study and Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation
An electrophysiology study is a test to measure the electrical activity of the heart and diagnose arrhythmias or abnormal rhythms of the heart. Some forms of arrhythmias can be treated with a catheter ablation procedure.
